Accident & Emergency Unit

Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) was launched on the 21st March, 2001 by the State Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Its main aim is to provide pre-hospital emergency services and also complement emergency services in Lagos State.

Vehicle Ambulances are placed at various locations on the highway within the state with the sole aim of taking care of accident victims in order to increase the response time of these ambulances.

Its activities are being co-ordinated from two established points (Lagos State University Teaching Hospital , Ikeja and General Hospital Lagos), with effective radio communication network.

LASAMBUS activities are not only limited to road accidents but also other cases such as domestic accidents, gunshots cases, assaults, industrial accidents, burns/bomb blast and special assignments. LASAMBUS has remained the flagship of the Lagos State Government in her drive to provide speedy and good health care services.

The unit operates on 24 hours basis with six emergency telephone lines programmed to hot line 1, 2, 3 dialed on any telephone line within Lagos State.
